Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Tax Supervisor to join our team at the production plant in Hungary. As a key member of the finance function, you will be fully responsible for overseeing the plant's tax compliance, tax planning, and tax risk management activities. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Hungarian tax regulations and international tax principles, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex tax matters across a multinational manufacturing environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Tax Compliance and Filing:
- Work on the preparation and timely submission of all tax returns, including corporate income tax (CIT), value-added tax (VAT), withholding tax, local business tax, and other applicable taxes.
- Ensure full compliance with Hungarian tax legislation and regulations, as well as any applicable international tax requirements.
- Manage tax payments and refunds, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the business.
- Tax Planning and Advisory:
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the plant's tax position while ensuring full compliance.
- Provide tax advisory support to management on business transactions, contracts, and investment projects.
- Advise on cross-border transactions, transfer pricing matters, and permanent establishment issues in coordination with Group Tax.
- Transfer Pricing:
- Manage transfer pricing documentation and compliance, ensuring alignment with OECD guidelines and local requirements.
- Coordinate with Group Tax and external advisors on transfer pricing studies, benchmarking analyses, and local file preparation.
- Monitor intercompany transactions to ensure arm's length principles are applied.
- Tax Audit and Risk Management:
- Act as the primary contact for tax audits and inquiries from the Hungarian tax authority (NAV).
- Manage tax risk assessments and implement internal controls to mitigate tax-related risks.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors on tax-related matters.
- Prepare and maintain tax provision calculations and deferred tax analyses for financial reporting purposes.
- Process Improvement:
- Drive process improvements and automation in tax compliance and reporting workflows.
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and business teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
- Reporting and Stakeholder Management:
- Prepare tax reports and presentations for management and Group Tax.
- Liaise with external tax authorities, advisors, and auditors as needed.
- Support the finance team on tax-related aspects of financial reporting under IFRS.
What you need to succeed in this role:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field. Professional tax certification (e.g., CTA, ACCA, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in tax, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in manufacturing or a multinational environment is highly preferred.
- Professional Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Hungarian tax law and regulations, including CIT, VAT, transfer pricing, and international tax principles. Familiarity with IFRS and tax accounting requirements.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in SAP systems (FI/CO modules) and tax compliance software. Advanced Excel skills.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Proficiency in Hungarian is required.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop a tax team, with strong coaching and mentoring skills.
