Job Summary

 

We are seeking a Fixed Assets Accountant to join our team at the production plant in Debrecen. Hungary. As a key member of the finance team, you will be fully responsible for the full lifecycle accounting and management of the plant's fixed assets, including asset acquisition, depreciation, disposal, physical counting, and reporting. The ideal candidate should possess solid fixed assets accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in system operations (particularly the SAP Asset module), with the ability to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness of fixed asset data, providing strong support for plant asset management.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Full Lifecycle Fixed Asset Management:

  • Handle capitalization of fixed assets, including asset acceptance, booking, numbering, and master data maintenance.
  • Manage Construction in Progress (CIP), track project progress, and complete timely asset capitalization upon project completion.
  • Perform monthly depreciation runs, ensuring accurate depreciation calculations in compliance with accounting standards.
  • Process asset disposals, retirements, sales, and transfers.
  • Regularly organize and participate in annual physical inventory counts of fixed assets, prepare count reports, and follow up on discrepancy resolution.


2. Accounting and Month-End Support:

  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, preparing fixed asset-related reports.
  • Perform aging analysis and impairment testing of fixed assets to ensure carrying amounts are reasonable.
  • Conduct regular reconciliation and clean-up of fixed asset account balances.

 
3. Process Improvement and Business Support:

  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities in fixed asset management processes to enhance data quality and work efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, procurement, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely flow of fixed asset information.
  • Track and analyze capital expenditure (CAPEX) budget performance, ROI analysis, and provide management recommendations.

 

4. Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure fixed asset accounting treatment complies with Hungarian accounting standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Assist in preparing statutory reports and tax filing support documents related to fixed assets.
  • Cooperate with internal and external audits, providing fixed asset-related supporting documentation and explanations.

 

What you need to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in fixed assets accounting or general ledger accounting. Experience in manufacturing or production environments is preferred.
  • Familiar with full lifecycle fixed asset accounting; knowledgeable about fixed asset-related requirements under Hungarian accounting standards and IFRS; familiarity with local tax regulations regarding asset depreciation and disposal is a plus.
  • Proficient in SAP systems (particularly the FI-AA Asset module) and Office software, with strong data reconciliation and analytical skills.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken).
